What is happening?
Alvie is unable to extract product data from your Google Merchant Center account. The connection fails because the user who authorized the connector does not have a high enough permission level to allow third-party data extraction.
Error: The credentials used to connect this Merchant account don't have the necessary access level. Ensure your user account has at least "Standard" access.
Why did this happen?
This error typically occurs when the connected Google account has restricted access within Merchant Center. Common causes include:
Insufficient Access Level: The user is assigned as "Reporting Manager" or "Email-only," which does not provide the API permissions required for product data extraction.
Role Downgrade: The user’s access level was changed after the initial connection was established.
Restricted "Next" Interface: In newer Merchant Center "Next" accounts, specific standard roles must be explicitly toggled to allow Alvie to fetch comprehensive product feeds.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Note: You must be an Admin or Super Admin in the Merchant Center account to change user permissions.
Navigate to External Platform: Log in to your Google Merchant Center account.
Locate the Section: Click on the Settings (gear icon) and select Access and services.
Action: * Go to the People and access tab.
Find the email address of the user who originally connected the account to Alvie.
Click Manage next to their name.
Ensure the Standard access level (or Admin) is selected.
Click Save.
External Steps (If applicable): If you are using Merchant Center Next and do not see the user, you may need to manage them via the Google Business Manager.
Verify: Return to Alvie and trigger a manual rerun of the affected config. Wait 2–5 minutes for the status to turn Healthy (Green).
Prevention & Tips To avoid seeing this error again:
Verify During Onboarding: Always ensure the person setting up Alvie connectors has at least "Standard" access to all relevant Google properties.
Audit User Roles: If you perform a security audit and revoke "Admin" rights, ensure the user still retains "Standard" access to keep data flows active.
