What is happening?
The Google Merchant Center connector cannot push data to BigQuery because the email address used to authenticate the Merchant Center account has not been granted permissions within the destination Google Cloud (GCP) project.
Error: The account '[email protected]' does not have access to the Google Cloud project xxx-xxx-xxx. Please add the source account to your Google Cloud project and grant it BigQuery admin access.
Why did this happen? This error typically occurs when there is a permissions gap between the data source and the data destination. Common causes include:
Missing IAM Role: The user email (e.g.,
[email protected]) is a member of the Merchant Center but has not been added to the IAM list of the GCP projectxxx-xxx-xxx.Cross-Account Mismatch: You are attempting to push data to a GCP project owned by a different organization or user without explicitly granting access to the connector's email.
Solution Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Navigate to External Platform: Log in to the Google Cloud Console and select the project mentioned in the error message (
xxx-xxx-xxx).Locate the Section: Search for "IAM" in the top search bar and click on the IAM & Admin page.
Action: * Click Grant Access.
In the New principals field, enter the email address shown in the error message (e.g.,
[email protected]).Assign the BigQuery Admin role.
Click Save.
External Steps: Because Alvie does not automatically refresh credentials when external permissions change, you must manually trigger an update:
Go to Connectors in your Alvie dashboard.
Open each affected connector.
Click the Save button to refresh the credential link.
Verify: Once saved, trigger a manual sync and wait 2–5 minutes for the status to turn Healthy (Green).
Prevention & Tips To avoid seeing this error again:
Unified Access: Whenever possible, use the same email account to manage both your Google Merchant Center and your Google Cloud projects.
Pre-setup Audit: Before creating a new connector, verify that the user email has the "BigQuery Admin" role in the destination project.
