The Google Merchant Center (Transfer Service) connector enables the BigQuery Transfer Service for Merchant Center in your BigQuery environment and manages the data transfer from your Merchant Center account to GCP on your behalf. You can learn more about Google Merchant Center transfers here.

To set up this connector, please watch the video guide or follow the step-by-step explanation below.

To start working with a connector, follow these steps:

  1. Go to HomeData and reportingConnectors.

  2. Click the button 'Create new connector'.

  3. Give your connector a name.

Step 1: Choose a data source type and account

  1. Select the data source type 'Google merchant center (Transfer Service)'.

  2. Choose an account for Google merchant center. If no Google merchant center account is yet connected to Alvie, you will be prompted to connect this data source to Alvie first. To do so, simply follow this guide.

Step 2. Define tables

1. Select Google merchant center tables that required to be used in the connector configuration:

2. Select tables to truncate.

The 'truncate' functionality in Alvie automatically deletes old versions of the data, so the tables only contain the newest snapshot of your Google merchant center data.

This setting helps ensure that your tables do not grow excessively in size.

The tables can become quite large because the Transfer Service appends data daily, causing them to grow by the size of all your products each day, which can become expensive.

Step 3: Select a date range

Select the behaviour to be applied to the connector. The option you see in the interface reflects the fact that using the Google Merchant Center Transfer Service is technically different from running our own Alvie connector. Therefore, we run the data pipeline for you with different premises instead of operating our own data pipeline.

Step 4: Set up data targets

Set up data targets to ensure your data is placed correctly. Follow the guide here on how to do this properly.

Step 5: Check advanced settings and activate your connector

Once you are ready, you can activate the connector and start it immediately. It is also possible to save the connector without activating it and return to it later.
