User-defined Pinterest connector

Written by Leo Weber

User-defined reports are custom reports where you, as the user, can select the dimensions and metrics you want to retrieve from the Pinterest Ads API.

Pick this option if you want to choose the dimensions, metrics, aggregation level, and granularity of your report.

When you choose User Defined, the interface will display additional dropdown fields from where you can configure the following:

1. Input dimensions: pick one or more descriptive fields you want in the report (e.g. campaign name, ad group name, product name, and more).

2. Input metrics: pick one or more numeric fields you want to measure (e.g. impressions, spend, clicks, conversions, and more).

3. Aggregation Level: select the entity the report is built upon. Available levels are advertiser, campaign, ad group, pin promotion (ad), keyword, product group, and product item - plus their Targeting variants for targeting breakdowns (e.g. by country).

4. Granularity: select how data is bucketed over time. Available values are hour, day, week, month, and total.

Note: Pinterest limits how far back data can be requested, depending on the report configuration. The connector automatically trims the requested range to what Pinterest supports:

  • Hourly reports: last 8 days, up to a 3-day span at a time.

  • All other reports: last ~914 days (about 2.5 years), up to a 186-day span at a time.
