User-defined report for TikTok connector

User-defined reports are custom reports where you, as the user, can select the dimensions and metrics you want to retrieve from TikTok Marketing API.

When you select a user-defined report, you will see additional fields in the interface.

To build this type of report, you need to define the required dimensions, metrics, and breakdown yourself. Here is some guidance on how to do that.

1. Defining Dimensions and Metrics

Metrics are quantitative measurements that provide insights into the performance of your ads, such as impressions, clicks, and conversions. For a comprehensive list of available metrics, please refer to the TikTok Business API documentation.

Dimensions are attributes that allow you to segment your data for more detailed analysis. The available dimensions depend on the breakdown you select. For example:

  • If you choose campaign_name as your breakdown, you can include attributes related to the campaign level.

  • Selecting ad_name as your breakdown enables you to include attributes specific to individual ads.

For instance, if you set the breakdown to CAMPAIGN and the dimension to NAME, the data will reflect the campaign names. Conversely, setting the breakdown to AD and the dimension to NAME will yield the names of individual ads.

Defining a Breakdown

A breakdown determines the level at which your data is aggregated, allowing you to analyze performance across different hierarchies. The possible breakdown options are:

  • AD: Aggregates data at the individual ad level.

  • ADGROUP: Aggregates data at the ad group level.

  • CAMPAIGN: Aggregates data at the campaign level.

By selecting an appropriate breakdown, you can tailor your reports to focus on specific aspects of your advertising strategy. For detailed information on how to implement breakdowns, please refer to the TikTok Business API documentation.
