User-defined reports are custom reports where you, as the user, can select the dimensions and metrics you want to retrieve from Facebook Marketing Insights API.

When you select a user-defined report, additional fields will appear in the interface.

To build this type of report, you need to define the required parameters yourself. Here is some guidance on how to do that.

1. How to define dimensions and metrics

The dimensions and metrics that need to be defined in the corresponding fields depend on the level of aggregation, which you set up at the bottom of the block (see point 4 below). To gain more insights about specific dimensions and metrics:

  1. Go to the bottom of the page, to the section titled 'Learn more'.

  2. Select the required level of aggregation and the corresponding page.

  3. Review the information about dimensions and metrics on the corresponding page.

2. How to set up action fields

The action fields that need to be defined depend on the level of aggregation, which you set up at the bottom of the block (see point 4 below).

  1. Go to the bottom of the page, to the section titled 'Learn More'.

  2. Select the required level of aggregation and the corresponding page.

  3. Review the information about action fields in the 'Fields' sections on the corresponding page.

3. How to choose input breakdowns

You can group the results in the report into different sets using breakdowns. To learn more about breakdowns, please refer to this documentation.

4. How to select the aggregation level

There are several available options for selecting the aggregation level. It is entirely up to you to choose the option that best suits your business needs.

5. Advanced settings

The Facebook ads connector can be further fine-tuned using advanced settings.

5.1. Account attribution setting

When this option is set to 'true', your ad results will be displayed using the attribution settings defined for the ad account.

5.2. Unified attribution setting

When this parameter is set to 'true', your ad results will be shown using the unified attribution settings defined at the ad set level. The 'Use account attribution setting' parameter will be ignored.

5.3. Action attribution window

There are several options available to define the action attribution window. Choose the one that works best for you. By default, the action attribution window will be set to 'default' value.
