What is happening? Alvie cannot push data to your destination because the BigQuery API is deactivated within your Google Cloud Project. This prevents Alvie from creating tables or writing data.
Error: BigQuery has not been enabled in the Google Cloud Project targetGCPProjectID. Please go to Google Cloud Platform and ensure BigQuery is enabled, or use a different project.
Why did this happen? This error typically occurs when a new Google Cloud Project is used that hasn't had its core services activated. Common causes include:
New Project Setup: BigQuery is not always enabled by default in newly created GCP projects.
API Deactivation: The BigQuery API was manually disabled in the API Library settings.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Navigate to External Platform: Go to the Google Cloud Console API Library.
Locate the Source: Ensure your target project is selected in the top project picker. If not, click Select a project, find your [targetGCPProjectID], and click Open.
Action: Search for "BigQuery API" in the search bar and click on the result. Click the blue Enable button. If the button says "Manage," the API is already enabled, and you should check your billing status instead.
Verify: Return to Alvie and trigger a rerun of the affected connector. Wait 2–5 minutes for the status to turn Healthy (Green).
Prevention & Tips To avoid seeing this error again:
Verify API Status: When setting up a new GCP project for Alvie, always ensure the BigQuery API is active before configuring the connector.
Permissions: Ensure your user account has the Service Usage Admin or Owner role to enable APIs.
