Step 1. Select the report

Select the report type: Channel grouping performance report v2.

Step 2. Select the data sources and choose custom groupings

Keep the following points in mind when setting up the Channel grouping performance report v2:

  1. Data sources: Setting up Google Analytics data source is a mandatory requirement for this type of report, while the rest of the data sources can be chosen flexibly.

  2. Custom grouping: Custom grouping is important in the Channel grouping performance report v2. The report is aggregated based on Date and Custom groupings, including market and channel grouping levels. This allows for accurate data integration from different platforms and relevant datasets. For instance, you can join Google Analytics data with Meta Ads data to address specific cases.

Step 3. Define data target properties

In this step, you will find the basic settings, which require you to define the Google Cloud project and BigQuery output dataset. For detailed instructions on how to correctly fill in this data, please refer to the documentation provided here.

Additionally, this step includes advanced settings that are optional to use. Here, you have the ability to define the schedule for creating the Channel grouping performance report v2. By default, the schedule is set to daily, but you can choose other options that are suitable for your needs:

You can learn more about how the schedule is set up here.

Step 4. Other settings

This step includes two important settings: the GA4 migration date and the Target currency. Both of these settings are explained in detail here.

Step 5. Activate the report

If you have finished configuring the settings, you can activate the report. However, if you still need to make adjustments to the settings, you can choose to save without activating.
