How to set up the report

To set up the Creative insights report, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Select Data & reportingReporting solutions.

  3. Click on the 'Create new report' button.

Step 1. Select the report

Select the report type: Creative insights report.

Step 2. Select the data sources and choose custom groupings

Keep the following points in mind when setting up the Creative insights report:

  1. Data sources: You have the flexibility to select any combination of data sources. There are no mandatory data sources required for the report.

  2. Custom grouping: Custom grouping is important in the Creative insights report. The report is aggregated on ad level but includes market and channel grouping levels to gain an easy overview across multiple ad creatives.

  3. Conversion name filter: This feature helps you focus your report on specific types of conversions by filtering based on keywords or phrases related to conversion actions. To learn more about how to use the filter, follow the documentation here.

Here is a detailed explanation for each data source:

Google Ads

  1. Select the Google Ads accounts connected to Alvie, as explained here. You can choose multiple accounts.

  2. To customize the channel grouping and market grouping, adjust the ready-made custom groupings according to your specific needs, as explained here.

  3. Fine-tune the conversion name filter to focus your report on specific types of conversions, as explained in the documentation here.

Facebook Ads

  1. Select the Facebook Ads accounts connected to Alvie, as explained here. You can choose multiple accounts.

DV360

  1. Select the DV360 accounts connected to Alvie, as explained here. You can choose multiple accounts.

TikTok

  1. Select the TikTok accounts connected to Alvie, as explained here. You can choose multiple accounts.

  2. To customize the channel grouping and market grouping, adjust the ready-made custom groupings according to your specific needs, as explained here.

  3. Fine-tune the conversion name filter to focus your report on specific types of conversions, as explained in the documentation here.

Google sheets

Select the Google sheets files connected to Alvie, as explained here.

You have the option to add an additional or missing images to the Creative insights report using Google sheets.

Step 3. Define data target properties

In this step, you will find the basic settings, which require you to define the Google Cloud project and BigQuery output dataset. For detailed instructions on how to correctly fill in this data, please refer to the documentation provided here.

Additionally, this step includes advanced settings that are optional to use. Here, you have the ability to define the schedule for creating the Creative insights report. By default, the schedule is set to daily, but you can choose other options that are suitable for your needs:

Step 4. Other settings

This step includes only one required setting: Target currency.

Furthermore, the report offers optional custom groupings. These custom channel groupings are part of the Looker studio dashboard and make it easier to obtain an aggregated overview of various aspects of your ad campaigns. They allow you to quickly segment and analyse data based on key criteria, helping you gain deeper insights and optimize performance. Here’s a brief overview of what each grouping does:

Categorizes audience segments targeted by your ads, such as demographics, interests, or behaviors.

Organizes ads based on creative concepts like 'Brand awareness' or 'Product launch' for performance comparison.

Groups ads based on A/B testing conditions or variants to evaluate the impact of different test conditions.

Conversion grouping

Organizes ads by the type of conversion they are optimized for, such as leads, purchases, or sign-ups.

Funnel grouping

Segments ads according to their position in the marketing funnel—top, middle, or bottom—for performance analysis.

Custom campaign type

Allows categorization of campaigns based on custom criteria like 'Awareness' or 'Retargeting'.

Custom grouping 1-4

Provides flexible groupings that users can define for custom segmentation, such as by region, product line, or budget tier.

Step 5. Activate the report

If you have finished configuring the settings, you can activate the report. However, if you still need to make adjustments to the settings, you can choose to save without activating.
