When creating your custom grouping, it is important to ask yourself the question, 'Why am I creating this custom grouping?' Having a clear purpose for creating your custom grouping will greatly assist you in the steps outlined in this section.

For instance, you may want to create a channel grouping to ensure that the Attribution model you set up accurately distributes conversions among the channels that are most relevant to your marketing efforts. This is a common objective.

To start creating a custom grouping, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the left-hand menu

  2. Select Setup

  3. Choose Custom groupings

As soon as you land on the Custom grouping overview page, click the 'Create new custom grouping' button:

As soon as you click on the button, a popup will appear inviting you to start the process:

In the opened popup, you need to provide two things:

1. Custom grouping name: This is simply the name you want your new custom grouping to have. Try to keep it short (we recommend less than 30 characters), but also descriptive enough that you or your colleagues can easily recognize it and understand its purpose.

2. The template: There are three options available for you to choose from:

  • Start from scratch: This option provides an empty custom grouping builder where you can create a custom grouping from scratch.

  • Precis market grouping: Learn more about working with this template here.

  • Precis channel grouping: Learn more about working with this template here.

It is recommended to use one of the ready templates, such as 'Precis market grouping' or 'Precis channel grouping', as a starting point and edit it to match your requirements.

Let's name our custom grouping 'New custom grouping' and choose 'Start from scratch'. Press the 'Ok, next' button to proceed.
