What is happening?
The Attribution Model or Budget Optimiser is unable to find any performance data for the specific conversion event you selected. This results in 0 revenue or 0 conversions being reported, even if your ad accounts show active spend.

Error: No conversions/revenue found for the selected conversion event in GA4. Make sure to select an event that is tracked in GA4.

No conversions/conversion_value found for the selected conversion event in GA4

Why did this happen?
This error occurs when the "Key Event" (conversion) you are targeting in Alvie doesn't exist or is empty in your GA4 data. Common causes include:

  • Event Name Mismatch: The event name in Alvie (e.g., purchase_event) does not exactly match the event name in GA4 (e.g., purchase).

  • Not Marked as Key Event: The event is being collected in GA4 but has not been toggled as a "Key Event" (formerly "Conversion") in the GA4 Admin panel.

  • Missing Value/Revenue: You have selected a revenue-based model, but the GA4 event is firing without a value or currency parameter.

  • Attribution Filters: A filter in your Alvie configuration (like a specific Country or Device filter) is too restrictive and has excluded all actual conversions.

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to External Platform: Log in to Google Analytics 4 and go to Admin > Data display > Key events.

  2. Locate the Source: Verify that the event you want to track is listed and the "Mark as key event" toggle is turned ON.

  3. Action: * Check the Name: Ensure the event name in your Alvie Attribution Model settings matches the "Event name" column in GA4 exactly (case-sensitive).

    • Check for Value: Go to Reports > Engagement > Events and click on your event. Ensure the "Event value" or "Total revenue" is not zero.

  4. External Steps (If applicable): Check your BigQuery export. If you use a BigQuery-based model, run a simple query to see if the event_name appears in your events_* tables for the last 7 days.

  5. Verify: In Alvie, check the Attribution Config for any active filters. If you find a filter that might be too strict, remove it and click Run now. The status should turn Healthy (Green) once conversions are detected.

Prevention & Tips

To avoid seeing this error again:

  • Use Standard Events: Where possible, use recommended GA4 event names like purchase, generate_lead, or begin_checkout.

  • Monitor Value Parameters: Ensure your developers are sending the value and currency parameters with every conversion event to support ROAS modeling.
