This comprehensive guide covers the most frequent permission and access issues that prevent ads, particularly Meta's Page-linked ads and TikTok's Spark Ads, from displaying correctly inside Creative Reporting.

Universal Symptoms of Access Failure

If you experience any of the following, a permission or access issue is the likely culprit, regardless of platform:

  • Previews Fail to Load: Ad previews are blank, broken, or show an error message.

  • Missing Ads/Posts: You cannot find an ad or post that is active on the native platform.

  • Permissions Needed Error: The platform explicitly displays a "Page Permissions Needed" message.

  • Data is Incomplete: The ad preview loads, but the image, video, or creative data is missing.

  • Restricted Functionality: Inability to change report date ranges, filters, or edit ad campaigns.

  • Inconsistent Access: A team member can see data that you cannot, or vice versa.

  • Missing Conversion Data: A specific ad account or expected conversion event is not appearing in the report view.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Checklist for Meta

Step 1: Connect (or Re-connect) Your Meta Profile

  1. Go to Data sources..

  2. Find your Meta (Facebook) account. If it's already connected, click Disconnect.

  3. Click Connect to add your Facebook account. You will be redirected to Facebook.

Step 2: Grant Full Permissions (The Most Important Step)

  1. When the Facebook permission pop-up appears, DO NOT click the blue "Continue" button.

  2. Instead, click the link that says "Edit Settings" or "Choose what you allow."

  3. You will see several lists (Ad Accounts, Pages, etc.). Make sure you toggle ON every single ad account and Facebook Page you want Alvie.io to be able to see.

  4. We strongly recommend selecting the "Opt into all current and future pages" option. This prevents you from having to do this again every time you add a new brand.

  5. Accept and approve all other permission prompts.

If your Spark Ads are not showing up in Alvie, follow these steps to verify permissions and settings.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Checklist for Tiktok

1. Confirm Business Center Configuration

  • Access the TikTok Business Center.

  • TikTok Accounts Check:

    • Navigate to the Assets section, then select TikTok Accounts.

    • Verify that the correct TikTok handle has been successfully linked.

  • Ad Account Sharing Check:

    • Go to Assets, and then choose Ad Accounts.

    • Ensure the relevant TikTok account is shared with your specific Ad Account. Crucially, the permission level must be set to Ad Delivery.

    • Important Note: If the sharing permissions are incorrect, Spark Ads will fail to display in Alvie, even if other settings seem right.

2. Validate Authorisation Codes

This step applies if you are utilising content from a Creator or using the direct video code method:

  • Creator Actions (on the TikTok App):

    • Locate the specific post you are using.

    • Tap the "..." icon, then go to Ad Settings.

    • Confirm that "Ad authorisation" is actively enabled (toggled on).

    • Check the current authorisation expiration date.

    • If the date has passed, tap "Generate code" and select a sufficient duration (e.g., 30, 60, or 365 days is recommended for stability).

  • Advertiser Actions (in TikTok Ads Manager):

    • Navigate to Assets, then Creative.

    • Select the Spark Ads posts tab.

    • Verify that the post is visible among your list of authorised content.

    • If the post is missing, click "Apply for Authorisation" and input the newly generated code.

    • Keep in Mind: Authorisation codes can be cancelled or expire unexpectedly, which will automatically remove the associated post from Alvie.

3. Review Identity Settings

When you are creating a new Spark Ad or modifying an existing one within TikTok Ads Manager:

  • In the Identity configuration area, make sure the option "Use TikTok account to deliver Spark Ads" is switched on.

  • Confirm that the correct TikTok handle is selected from the dropdown menu.

  • Do not select the "Custom Identity" option, even if it appears to offer a similar outcome.

  • If an incorrect handle is chosen, the ad content will not be available in Alvie.

4. Refresh Alvie

After you have corrected all necessary permissions and settings:

  • Perform a hard refresh of the Alvie application or web page to clear old cached data and load the updated access permissions.

    • For Mac users: Press {Command} + Shift} + {R}

    • For PC users: Press {Ctrl} + {Shift} + {R}

5. Allow Time for Synchronisation

  • Newly configured or re-authorized Spark Ads might not appear immediately due to the scheduled synchronisation intervals of the Alvie platform.

  • If all permissions have been verified and corrected, allow up to one full sync cycle for the ads to become visible.

If you have performed all steps and the issue persists, please reach out to the Alvie support team.
