If Firebase is currently used for event tracking, then using this type of target for Enhanced signals makes perfect sense. You can learn more about how data is sent to Google Analytics 4 here.
If you are using GTAG, consider another type of target for Enhanced Signals: Google Analytics 4: GTAG.
Ensure that you properly adjust Google Analytics 4 to receive transformed information from Enhanced signals. You can learn more about the required settings here.
1. How to set up this target
When you reach Step 2, simply select ‘Google Analytics 4 - Firebase purchase’ as the target to send the events to:
2. How to choose an Event name
The Event name is the name of the event you would like to send to the Google Analytics 4 property.
You can choose either 'precis_ecomm' or 'purchase' event.
The choice of event depends on your business needs:
If you select 'purchase': It will be sent as a normal enhanced e-commerce event. This has the benefit of providing item-level data, but it also means that a duplicate Google Analytics 4 property should be created to avoid overwriting existing revenue tracking.
If you select 'precis_ecomm': It will be sent as a custom event, where the value will simply be the calculated value. This can be beneficial if item-level data is not required and you prefer keeping the data in the same Google Analytics 4 property.
3. How to provide an App ID
The App ID is the identifier for the Firebase app.
For example: 1:65211879909:web:3ae38ef1cdcb2e01fe5f0c.
To find the App ID, follow these steps:
Go to the Firebase console.
Navigate to: Admin → Data streams.
You will now see the required App ID, which is mentioned on the page as Stream ID.
4. How to set up an API secret
The API secret is used to authenticate events sent to the Google Analytics 4 property.
For example: AB1ABC2ABCDEFgHi3AB11aB.
To create a new API secret, follow these steps:
Go to Google Analytics.
Navigate to: Admin → Data streams.
Select the required stream.
Choose Measurement protocol.
Click on the 'Create' button to start.
